London Bus - #78 - Original Watercolor Painting

Here's a new London double-deck bus on Strand in the West End. The old red rear-entrance Routemaster has been largely phased out in favor of more modern and safer double-deck buses, but the new ones are still red and remain an icon of London.

Rockport Motif No.1 - #77 - Original Watercolor Painting

Last summer in Maine, we stopped at Rockport to take in the harbor and the famous Motif No.1, a favorite subject for many artists.  This is a somewhat unusual view of the building, from the rear.

Edale is a small picturesque village in the Peak District of England. It sits at the southern end of the Pennine Way, the first and longest footpath in England. This beautiful church is located in a valley beneath the Kinder plateau.

Featured at Fine Arts Center in June

I'm being featured at the Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs (626 Central Avenue) during June.  Today we hung the show, which I'm sharing with artist Bill Wells of Mena.  I've attached a photo of one of my display racks.  I have about 25 framed paintings on display, along with 30 or so unframed original paintings in a flip rack.

The opening reception is this coming Friday, June 3, from 5 to 9 pm, during Hot Springs Gallery Walk.  Hope you can drop by, say "Hello", and enjoy the art.

Brighton Pier - #72 - Original Watercolor Painting

On my recent trip to England I spent a week in Brighton.   From my flat, I could walk to most of the interesting places - the lanes, the theater, the royal pavilion, a zillion restaurants, and of course the famous Brighton Pier.  It's a long way out to the end!

Biking the Cotswolds - #69 - Original Watercolor Painting

Here's the first painting from my recent trip to England. We spent a week in the Cotswolds, which is a delightful area, with narrow lanes and butter-colored cottages. There were lots of bikers in the area, enjoying the beautiful countryside.

Icy Autumn - #68 - Original Watercolor Painting

When the snow falls early, the fresh, cold air stings, and the autumn leaves that are still on the trees make for a clear, colorful entry into winter.

Bass Harbor Light - #67 - Original Watercolor Painting

I was in Maine last summer, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery there - especially the waterfront areas. Bass Harbor Light is located near Acadia National Park, and sits on a picturesque bluff overlooking the sea. It makes a great painting subject.

Kauai North Shore - #66 - Original Watercolor Painting

The weather was changeable this day in Kauai. On the north side of the island, the skies were a combination of clouds and sun. The trees ringing the beach cast dark shadows on the sand, producing a rather dramatic scene.

Honfleur Refuge - #65 - Original Watercolor Painting

Here is a different view of the old port at Honfleur in Normandy, France.  This picturesque town is an artist's dream.  Honfleur is located at the mouth of the Seine River, on the south bank.  I greatly enjoyed visiting there, as well as painting several views of this beautiful harbor.

A Light Breeze - #64 - Original Watercolor Painting

Here's another painting of an old sailing ship - I really love these boats - trying to make headway on a calm day with only a light breeze. The sails in the painting were suggested by scraping the wet paint in the sky and water.
